I disagree with Roy Hilliard’s comments about the rail network provider Southern (Letters, February 14).

I have been a regular commuter for the past five years and seen the disastrous service of Southern getting worse.

Trains are constantly late, often cancelled, and some staff don’t appear to care.

I have been often stranded while trying to get home, most recently over the Christmas period last year.

Then Southern had the cheek to increase fares last month to above inflation, with no acceptable reason.

I support Caroline Lucas MP in her desire to improve the railways for everyone.

I think retired local folk who don’t use the trains as much as commuters fail to see the negative side of a firm which just can’t admit that it can’t cope.
