Teenage girl raped on Brighton beach

The Argus: Sussex Police want to speak to this man in connection with a rape on Brighton beach Sussex Police want to speak to this man in connection with a rape on Brighton beach

A teenager was attacked and raped on a beach by a man she met in a nightclub.

The 18-year-old woman was attacked by a man she met in a Brighton seafront nightclub but who then forced himself on her outside on the beach.

Now police want to speak to this man about the incident.

The woman left the Coalition nightclub in King’s Road, Brighton, with the man and they both went onto the beach between the club and the Fortune of War pub before he raped her.

The attack happened between 2.30am and 3.15am on Friday November 15 and officers have been investigating a number of lines of inquiry since then to try to identify who was involved.

Despite it happening several months ago they are hopeful someone will recognise a man recorded on CCTV footage in Coalition who they would like to speak to.

The man is described as white, about 5' 8", clean shaven with short blond or brown hair and in his early 20s.

Detective Sergeant Mark Taylor said: “We think he could have valuable information that could help us with the investigation.

“If anyone knows who he is or where he is I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the man in the club on the night of the attack.

"Although this happened several months ago we are still hopeful of finding someone who can help us get in touch with the man in the CCTV.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 133 of 15/11 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.

How on earth can anyone make any identification from such a blurred picture? Isn't it time the council invested in some up to date technology? This is the 21st Century, for heaven's sake. They are quite happy to squander money on pointless vanity projects, while ignoring important items like reliable security cameras. Hardly a week goes by when there is not yet another useless image in the Argus. It would be laughable if it did not involve such serious issues as rape.

I get better CCTV pictures off my home CCTV system that cost under 200 quid. I would have expected the town CCTV pictures to be 10 times better considering the amount they spent on them.

Looks like one of those ghost hunter shows from television.

As for the girl being a "teenager", perhaps we can start referring to them as adults when they START GOING TO NIGHTCLUBS?!?

The police don't actually want to catch this man that's why they have left it several months to ask for help, this has happened several times recently surely for the best chance to catch someone especially being a tourist city the police need to ask for public help a lot faster.

The other day I video-linked with someone in Australia. Perfect picture quality and sound. Can someone explain why CCTV footage is always so bad? I'm genuinely interested. As our streets and buildings are made ugly by them, it would be nice if they actually worked! Argus - can you investigate this?

The picture most probably has to be blurred lest his human rights be violated.
If not, then I must say, you libs have missed the boat on this one. Maybe it's something you can include in your next manifesto?

However, as he's innocent until proven guilty, the headline should say alleged rape, as we don't know if it was rape, and false claims do happen, even in law abiding and clean living "liberal" towns like Brighton!
