Man arrested at Gatwick on suspicion of training for terrorism

A man has been arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of training for terrorism overseas.

The 21-year-old was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command after disembarking a flight from Istanbul at approximately 2pm today.

The suspect remains in custody at a police station in West London.

The arrest was not in response to any immediate threat or risk.

The police inquiry is ongoing and the Met were not available to give out further details at this time.
