Bendy bus gets stuck in Hove

The Argus: File picture of a bendy bus File picture of a bendy bus

A bendy bus got stuck at Hove's Palmeira Square, leading to traffic delays on Western Road and New Church Road.

The bus came to a halt when it failed to make the turn on the south east corner of the square.

The blockage was cleared in about half an hour after the bus managed to get clear.

Do you have a picture of the bendy bus? Email jo.wadsworth@theargus.co.uk.

These buses are a complete waste of time in the city, they are much too big and badly driven as if they are the only vehicle on the road.
What fool thought they would work well in Brighton (not the road users friend Mr French by any chance)

The odds are likely that it was someone else's selfish parking that caused this issue not poor driving on the bus drivers behalf.

I have driven them, in Brighton and love them. Very smooth drive.

Can you tell me where they are a waste of time, because more people can board - 150 - and during rush hours there are loads of people on them.

Also there haven't been any deaths/murders/explo
sions bendys flying into buildings as forecast by people like yourself when they were introduced 5 years ago.

It's been a long wait to post that hasn't it? Disappointing.

Between the greens and brighton & hove buses they think they own the roads and everyone else is an inconvenience .i'm surmised that they haven't got their heads together and banned cars from shopping areas like London road, lewes rd and western road (hove end). They built the bus stops out in the road so if you get stuck behind the flow your knackered unless you can turn off or overtake. The council loves the income that parking provides yet discourages the same car user from doing their daily business. They got it all wrong

143 mate! not 150 that extra 7 and your overloaded that's 10tonne of people.
It takes a skill and thinking to drive these, driven them for the past 18 months and still love them and yes poor parking is the main problem.
They should be old steine and uni only.

Apart from that they are a superb bus to drive and a fast moment of people

Rubbish! They're absolutely fine on appropriate routes and more comfortable than other buses. They're also the quickest and easiest buses to board and alight from..

hopefully the ban on cars on said routes will come sooner rather than later, then we can get our lovely passengers to there destination on time instead of being stuck behind car drivers who haven't worked out that bus is best,

Bus is best? In what way? Do you mean riding in a truck-based vehicle, on seats that are not really wide enough or give adequate legroom, with a lottery on which stranger you share your meagre seat with? And of course a longer journey time, as it stops everywhere another passenger wishes to get on or off. Oh, and it does not run to demand-you have to plan your journey around the timetable.
Buses are a second choice, for those who: a) cannot drive, b) cannot afford a car, c) cannot easily park at their destination.

Lucky for you that a million journeys a week are made on these terrible buses, leaving more road space for you. Fortunately buses are a first choice for ever increasing numbers of people who see them as a solution not a problem

Yes it is very disappointing watching the quality of bus drivers in Brighton who pull out in front of cars without looking, pull into bus stops and leave the back of the bus out in the middle of the road (even if there is enough space in front of the bus) and in general have no regard for other road users.
If the average driver in the city drove like a bus driver he would probably lose his licence .
I was not commenting about their capacity, just the fact that they are badly driven,I wouldn't brag that I was a bus driver if I was you.

Not this one. A new driver was trying to go back round Palmeira Square twice after realising he was running 10 minutes early
