Worthing schoolboy lands Game of Thrones role

The Argus: Brenock O'Connor Brenock O'Connor

A Worthing schoolboy has landed the role of a lifetime and has joined the cast of an international megahit TV show.

Brenock O'Connor, 13, from Worthing, will be hitting our screens in the fourth season of the HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones in April.

Brenock said: “It was a brilliant experience, when I found out I got it I couldn't believe it.

“I hadn't watched the show, but I had seen all the awards it had won.

“I got to spend a week in Iceland and got to go to Belfast, it was amazing with the size and the scale of it all.”

Brenock, who goes to Chatsmore Catholic High School in Goring and attended The Theatre Workshop Stage School in Brighton, has now watched the whole series and said he is excited and nervous about the new season.

But sho bosses at HBO are insisting the details of his character are kept secret.

His mother Teresa O'Connor, 55, said: “We are very proud, it was amazing when we found out he had got the part, we knew the show by the awards it had won but had never watched it.

“He joined drama group when he was eight and won a theatre scholarship two years ago.”

Brenock has previously scored roles in Holby City, comedy series Chickens and has starred as the Artful Dodger in the UK tour of Oliver.

Lora Munro, director of The Theatre Workshop said: “This is a major achievement for Brenock.

“Having watched his development over the past few years and how hard he works in classes, this feels well deserved.

“We are all extremely excited and proud to see him star in Game of Thrones and can't wait to tune in.”

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1, Two Swords will be broadcast in the UK on April 7 on Sky Atlantic.
