Pussycat Doll to perform at Pride
4:40am Thursday 24th April 2014 in News
Pride organisers have let the Pussycat out of the bag about a multi-million record selling global superstar lined up to perform at this year's event.
Pride Brighton and Hove expects music fans will be feline fine after revealing former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt will perform on the main stage at this year's event.
The Candy singer will join disco diva and original member of The Weather Girls Martha Walsh on this year's line-up.
Organisers will announce more crowd-thrilling acts as the countdown to pride party day on August 2 in Preston Park heats up.
The 32-year-old joined the Pussycat Dolls in 2003 and soon became a global superstar alongside fellow band members Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.
The band notched up eleven number ones and two multi-platinum albums before Wyatt left in 2010.
She has since enjoyed success alongside fellow judges Diversity's Ashley Banjo and Australian actor and dancer Adam Garcia on Sky 1's hit show Got To Dance.
Fans can expect a high-octane performance from the American entertainer including Pussycat Doll chart-topping tracks Don't Cha, Buttons, Stickwitu as well as her top five solo hit Candy and new single Derriere.
Organisers hope to go one-better than last year's line-up featuring Alison Moyet, Ms Dynamite and Paloma Faith which proved a big hit with fans.
The news is set to see another boost in ticket sales for the event which is already shaping up to be the best-attended ticketed Pride event ever.
More than 7,000 early-bird tickets were snapped up in the first few weeks of going on sale and fans can still guarantee their place in the park for a discounted £15 until the end of May.
Pride programming director Dulcie Weaver said: “The return of the main stage in 2013 was a huge success.
“This year we'll be staggering main stage artist announcements over the next few months so to secure an international artist such as Kimberly is amazing.
“I'm a massive fan of the Pussycat Dolls and we're thrilled Kimberly has agreed to take time out of her busy schedule to perform at this year's Pride.”
Pride Brighton and Hove 2014: Freedom To Live will host the Pride Festival in Preston Park from midday until 10pm on August 2.
Discounted £15 tickets are available until the end of May, rising to £17.50 in June and £20 in July.
