I understand that Brighton and Hove City Council is thinking about regenerating Stanmer Park, hopefully with lottery funding.

Parking meters? Opening the road through the village up to Ditchling Road so buses can cut up this narrow road? Cars? Motorbikes? Which is popular with dog walkers and cyclists? And families with small children?

For goodness sake. Where do these people live who come up with these crazy ideas? Certainly not Stanmer.

The very popular Stanmer cafe will suffer. The road will not be safe for children, dogs or the elderly who, at the moment, can walk leisurely up the road enjoying the birdsong.

The park will be ruined. But not, though, for travellers who will continue to park wherever they like, free of charge, while others will have to pay to park or not be able to park at all as it will now be a thoroughfare.

Although there is a questionnaire online for residents to voice their opinions, running until Saturday, I can’t help thinking this is probably going to happen whether we like it or not – helping to swell the coffers of the council.

It appears the Green Party has helped put forward another great idea. The council has plans to charge people to park in Stanmer Park, and apply residential parking to those who live there.

It has killed off London Road with its parking costs and also the seafront. Now it wants to kill off Stanmer Park.

Who wants to come to Brighton and pay these exorbitant parking costs?

The only ones who want to come to Brighton are travellers because they get free parking.

The only reason the Greens got in last time is because of the student vote, which should not be allowed as they are only here as short-term residents.

There’s only one good thing about greens – they can be recycled on to the compost heap, which is where I hope the party ends up at the next election.

I would like to see them put their wrongs right before they go.
