I do agree with Victor Roman (Letters, April 19) about the hype of keeping us in our old age with pills and foul-tasting fluid, telling us what to do.

If we have got this far, I am sure we are doing something right.

There is no way I want to go into any type of home. I like being in my own home; keeping it clean and tidy gives me something to do.

Then there is the shopping and I cook a fresh meal every day.

I lived in Brighton all my life. I moved to Southwick in January; the best thing I have done in a while. Everyone I meet or deal with is so kind.

I overlook the green so even if I can’t get out I have a lovely view. I miss my old neighbours but I am sure in time I will make new friends.

If anyone thinks I am fit and well, I walk with an aid and have problems but still live my life how I want.

Doing our own thing in our own time keeps us going. Sitting in a line watching TV is not the answer. Keeping active is.
