Would it not be an idea for Brighton and Hove City Council to organise a “Day for England”, much like the Pride event we have every year?
There could be a parade by the Scouts and the Guides, bands playing and street shows.
People could fly the flag of St George and the Union flag without fear of being branded as fascists or racists.
You would not need to bring in hundreds of police at taxpayers’ expense and any idiots could soon be dealt with.
If true fascists were to march on any street in the UK I would be among the first to oppose them for God, Queen and country.

The legal right is to peacefully demonstrate, not to invade our city with the prior intention of violent behaviour. Shops empty. Fighting in North Street. Costs to pay for wall-to-wall police officers. It really is time to call a halt to this annual festival of violence.
