A report in The Argus (April 29) stated that structural engineers have been working on the seafront’s historic arches after a section of it collapsed.
It continued by reporting that questions were being asked about why the council failed to reinforce the road after a council report from November 2013 identified that sections of the arches had become “structurally defective”.
There is one possible answer to these questions that is obvious: Isn’t it just another part of the Greens’ plan to banish cars from the city’s roads?
Now, instead of spending a fortune on narrowing main roads through the installation of cycle lanes, it can instead spend nothing on road maintenance, achieving exactly the same end.
Thus all main thoroughfares will gradually become unable to support anything heavier than a bike.
