Apparently there wasn’t enough violence to stop the March For England (The Argus, April 29), which cost more than £500,000 to police.

There were men in balaclavas rocking cars with a family in and screeching at children inside and others drinking and shouting abuse as well as goodness knows what else.

This is supposed to be a tourist resort and we’re just embarking on the Brighton Festival and Fringe.

It’s a pity the road didn’t open up and swallow the lot of them.

The cost to Brighton for clearing up after travellers used to be £500,000 annually. I’m sure that must have spiralled. And now we have the costs of this march, too.

It happens to be everyone’s human right to live in a peaceful, law-abiding society but I am sure the majority of Brighton and Hove residents would be pleased to see the back of all these people.

Marches like this encourage low-life from all over the UK. Shouldn’t there be a referendum vote for this?

Meanwhile, the seafront is collapsing and needs millions spent on it, but no, the council wants to borrow money to build the i360 instead.

We seem to be spending our money the wrong way.
