A FISH shop owner will row 2,400 miles across the Pacific for a celebrity he befriended while selling him a fish tank.
Daryl Farmer is attempting to row 2,400 miles single-handed from Monterey in California to Honolulu in Hawaii for the Peter Andre Foundation.
The 39-year-old from East Grinstead had the Mysterious Girl singer as a customer in his shop last year and installed a fish tank in his house.
This was the start of a friendship which will now see Mr Farmer set off in his 24ft by 6ft boat today in the Great Pacific Race.
As a committed ocean conservationist, Mr Farmer will also use the race to raise funds for marine conservation organisation Earthrace Conservation.
He said: “I’m looking forward to getting out on the ocean and can’t wait to start.”
Mr Andre said: “I just want to say that I think he is doing an amazing thing by rowing solo across the Pacific Ocean to raise funds for my foundation and Cancer Research UK.
“This cause has now become dear to my heart so I support him all the way.”
