SEVEN men have been arrested in relation to football violence.

A violent confrontation broke out between two groups of men outside the Railway Bell pub in Surrey Street, Brighton, in which a man from the city was left with a broken nose and bruising.

The incident happened after the Football League Championship match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers that afternoon.

The seven men, aged 27, 25, 23, 18, 26, 44, and 46, were arrested at addresses in the West Midlands area, by West Midlands Police officers working with Sussex officers on 27 May this year, on suspicion of violent disorder.

The 26-year old was also arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

After interviews they were released on police bail until 31 July while enquiries continue.

Police are still appealing for additional information.

PC Andy Newman of Sussex Police said; "If you can help, please contact us via 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1254 of 4/5/2013. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
