Regarding comments by ladies in The Argus, May 29, on taxis: this is a serious issue. I would not be able to get heavy shopping home without them.

People with bad backs, hip and knee replacements et. have trouble with these big cabs.

I and others have ended up on the floor. I always order a saloon car and also wait at a rank for one.

Yes I do get buses but not with two bags. It’s too dangerous unless you have got three hands.

I signed a petition for cabbies who didn’t agree with the council policy. What happened to that?

Who are these people at the council who seem to know all about different medical conditions and how they affect people’s lives.

Come to that, how many people does this policy affect that are unable to use the big cabs? Most elderly persons can’t.
