Motorist assaulted couple after they asked him to slow down

First published in News

A motorist assaulted a couple after they had waved to slow him down.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in High Street, Bognor, at 9.30pm on June 7.

The motorist was said to be driving a distinctive red Audi S3 Quatro with a non-standard loud exhaust.

The victims, who were on foot, had waved for him to slow down when he got out his car and assaulted them.

A music event had just ended in nearby Hotham Park and officers believe there would have been plenty of witnesses as a result.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Anyone witnesses should call police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting serial 1567 of 7/6.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Ah, this will be one of those 'poor beleagured hardworking tax paying motorists' that we're supposed to feel sorry for. Funny how if it had been a cyclist going too fast this comments section would be in the thousands by now. I sincerely hope the couple are OK.

Why were the waving to slow him down? Was he even speeding? Nosey pedestrian busy-boddies with nothing else to do by the sounds of it, I'm guessing they are from Hove.

We guessed.

It meant that any stupid comments you might make could be excused.

Be grateful for that, not abusive, because if you were from somewhere that was known for producing intelligent people, you would have been pilloried.
