A CHARITY is celebrating after holding its biggest and best summer fayre in recent memory.

Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions Club held its annual Summer Fayre at the Rottingdean Village Green and Kipling Garden on Saturday, raising more than £3,500 for charity.

Club secretary David Walker said: “We had a brilliant day.

“Our treasurer is frantically trying to work out how much money was raised, and we know it’s about £3,500, but that figure could easily be more.

“It’s always difficult to tell just how many people were there because it was just a constant stream during the day, but it was definitely in the thousands.

“We had a lot of stalls and displays this year and they proved to be really popular so we’ll be looking to do a similar sort of thing next year.”

There was a range of events going on from 11am to 4pm including a Punch and Judy show, karate displays, theatre performances, dance acts and the traditional stalls and barbcues.
