Play resumes after man collapses at Eastbourne tennis

A man collapsed during play at the Aeogon International tennis tournament in Eastbourne.

Play during the centre court match, which featured Camila Giorgi against Caroline Wozniacki, was temporarily suspended.

The players have returned to the court and play has resumed.

A spokesman from the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Devonshire Park at about 3.20pm to reports a man in his 70s had collapsed at the tennis.

"A number of medical staff helped him at the scene before we arrived with an ambulance. He’s been checked over and is now on route to Eastbourne District General Hospital for further checks."
