CROWDS gathered for a carnival day and procession in Woodingdean, Brighton, that has taken place for 40 years.
There was a march of more than 300 people including a band from Central Park to Woodingdean Primary School.
The school playing field and the community centre in Warren Road had dozens of stalls run by charities and groups as well as displays, refreshments, entertainment and a funfair.
The event has been run by John Homewood and his brother-in-law John Downs for 35 years.
Future carnivals will be run by other people as the two have decided to pass the baton.
Money raised goes to groups who apply to the carnival committee for grants of up to £500. Call Mr Homewood for details on 01273 684139.
