Brighton Digital Festival is offering grants of up to £500 for independently organised events – but applications close tomorrow.

Organisers are offering ten lots of £500 grants to events that celebrate digital arts and culture as part of the 2014 edition of the festival.

The Grassroots Fund has been created to support projects that will engage a diverse public audience. To qualify, events must take place in Brighton and Hove between September 1 and 28 September, be open to the public, show consideration of audience development and report back on audience engagement.

Jesse Black Mooney, festival manager for Brighton Digital Festival, said: “The passion and innovation of the Brighton community is the driving force behind the richly diverse programme of events that take place as part of the festival in September.

"Thanks to the amazing contributions from supporters like Brighton and Hove City Council, we are incredibly happy to be offering up these awards of £500 to support outstanding community-led grassroots events for Brighton Digital Festival."
