Rave in derelict tower block comes to an end

The Argus: Police seize equipment with assistance from the fire service Police seize equipment with assistance from the fire service

A rave in a derelict building finished this morning after police intervened.

Sussex Police were called at 10.30pm to reports people were starting to enter the derelict Lloyds tower building in The Causeway, Worthing.

Police attended to deter more ravers from entering the building maintaining an "early visible presence".

The rave was kept under control and the last attendees of the rave dispersed this morning.

Sussex Police seized equipment from the rave with assistance from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service using a ladder platform.

Further searches of the building have not yet been carried out as the building was deemed "too dangerous".

The building has now been cordoned off.

Why is a building allowed to be left when it's too dangerous to enter? The council should be making the owners pull it down. Isn't that what a council is for?

I don't think it has been vacant that long and I thought it was going to be refurbished . Aston House is more of a worry I don't know why one of the Unis don't use it for Student Accommodation if it is a problem to turn into Flats.

So the police basically allowed the rave to continue until the ravers decided they had had enough.

I have to ask....why the f*ck did the police bother to turn up at all?

Let's start with it doesn't belong to either of the Uni's.

The police are quick enough to jump on people putting on free entertainment like this, but drag their heels when Irish travellers set up camp in our public spaces and parks, leaving a mess and acting in an anti social manner...

Ssh! Don't mention the travellers. Just misunderstood, nice people really who clear up after a visit and never cause any trouble....

When they were in Preston Park a couple of weeks ago my friend was out for a walk and strolling past one caravan when the door was flung open and an exposed man appeared and weed out of the door. Perhaps I made that up, they would not do that would they? YES they would and did!
