UNION members marched in protest against plans to move hospital staff.

The GMB action saw workers from Eastbourne’s District General Hospital parade through the town.

It was called over plans to move up to 200 Sussex healthcare NHS Trust administrative staff from the hospital to other parts of the county.

The GMB claims the trust has not carried out “meaningful consultation”.

The march set off from the town’s pier at 10.30am before snaking through the main shopping area to Wish Tower.

Gary Palmer, GMB regional officer, said: “The GMB is fighting every cut, closure or outsourcing threat that the trust try to force through.

“This fight is for everyone in East Sussex.”
