MORE THAN 1,000 participants took part in the UK’s toughest charity challenge across the South Downs.

Competitors battled the searing heat to complete a 100km nonstop trek across the South Downs to raise money for Oxfam and The Gurkhas’ Welfare Trust.

The Trailwalker was a huge success and the 304 teams that took part raised more than £750,000 for the two charities.

The walk started on July 26 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Petersfield, and finished on July 27 at Brighton Racecourse.
