Residents are being transferred to a new voter registration system.

The Government’s new Individual Electoral Registration scheme has replaced the old system where the ‘head of the household’ would register everyone living in their property.

From Monday, August 11, people currently on the register will begin to receive letters from Rother District Council either confirming they have been transferred to the new system or they will be asked for more information before they can be moved over.

The new system which is the biggest change in how people register to vote in a century, allows people to register to vote or change their details online for the first time.

People can register online to vote at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or there is more information on the scheme available at www.gov.uk/yourvotematters
