Plea to help homeless be sun safe

First published in News

A TEAM working to help the homeless is appealing for donations. Staff at Brighton Housing Trust’s First Base Day Centre are in need of sun cream and light summer clothes to help their clients stay safe in the sun.

A team of young people from the Prince’s Trust has already been helping the centre by gathering donations but more is needed.

Claud Cohen, deputy manager at the day centre, said: “People who sleep on the street have no escape from the dangers of the sun and our supplies of sun cream diminish very quickly.

“It’s so important to our clients that they are able to have access to toiletries and clean clothes.”

If you would like to make a donation then please contact Claud Cohen at First Base Day Centre on 01273 326844.

Young homeless people prefer the sunny beaches in Brighton, to the grey skys in Barnsley & Wigan. If getting sun burnt is an issue, they should consider re-locating.
