A ROBBER has been charged with escaping from prison.
Police say Lewis Berry, 22, absconded from Ford Open Prison at some point between 1pm and 5pm on Wednesday, but was back in prison less than 24 hours later.
Berry, formerly of Test Road, Sompting, had been jailed for four years and six months in February 2013 after he and three teenagers attacked and robbed an 18-year-old in Buckingham Road, Shoreham.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court on Friday August 8.
On Monday a second Ford prisoner, Craig Hayler, was arrested in Southampton and charged with with being unlawfully at large as a result of him walking out of HMP Ford.
Police say he walked out of the prison, in Arundel, on March 10.
He was also charged with burglary, on May 1 at a guest house in Selden Road, and making off without payment from a guest house in Windsor Road.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Crown Court on August 22.
