Bede’s Academic Deputy Head John Tuson said: “This year, 450 qualifications were taken by the Bede’s Upper Sixth.

These students at Varndean seem to have got the results they wanted...
Eastbourne College students are celebrating an outstanding crop of A level results. 78% of all grades were A*, A or B and over 49% of the grades awarded were A* or A grades.
Headmaster Simon Davies said: "Ahead of these results there was plenty of press coverage which suggested grades nationally would be depressed and schools would be disappointed. At Eastbourne, the very opposite is true: yet again, the headline figures are superb and, much more importantly, the great majority of individuals have met or exceeded their ambitious targets.
"This collective and individual success is all the more impressive when one considers that the 2014 leavers had, on paper, the lowest underlying academic ability of any year group in the last five years.
"This level of ‘value added’ can only be achieved when students and staff work effectively together.
"Our boys and girls have worked extremely hard and received top class challenge and support from all those who have taught and mentored them. The outcome is an excellent set of grades and we are thrilled for them."
There have been some tears at Brighton College this morning...
There were some excellent results at Lancing College.
• Over half of this year’s candidates achieved A*s or As.
• Nearly one fifth of A Levels taken were graded A*.
• One candidate gained a clean sweep of 6 A*s; one candidate gained a clean sweep of 5 A*s.
• Lancing’s average of A*-B grades for the last decade years is over 81%.
Head Master Dominic Oliver said: “As the new Head Master at Lancing College there could be no better welcome than these A Level results. Our students have excelled in academic subjects across the board and I congratulate them wholeheartedly.
"These results are the culmination of years of hard work both from the students themselves and a dedicated Lancing teaching staff whose expertise, dedication and enthusiasm brings out the best in every member of our community.
"The ethos here is to encourage a spirit of learning and self-discovery in every sphere and the grades we celebrate today are the happy culmination of a rich all-round pattern of achievement.
"As these young people move on to the next stage of their lives they will do so in the confidence that Lancing has given them the very best preparation for the challenges and excitements to come.”
More smiley students at Brighton and Hove High School.
Another happy student at Varndean.
The runner up in The Young Apprentice 2012 has achieved exam success at A-level.

The 18-year-old from Brighton achieved A grades in economics, mathematics and religious studies and will go on to study accounting and finance at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2015.
She said: "The Young Apprentice definitely helped me manage stress, I know a lot of people understandably become stressed out about exams but having been in the board room, nothing will be as stressful as that and it really helped me rein in the nerves."

Eastbourne College students with their results.
Year 11 students at Dorothy Stringer are celebrating gaining 44 AS qualifications in Maths or Philosophy and Ethics today, having started studying the subjects two years early when they were only 14.
Over half of the pupils gaining a grade in Maths achieved grade A, with one student achieving an average of UMS of 98 across the three modules, including Mechanics.
Head teacher Richard Bradford said “We are committed to setting high expectations for every student, and that includes providing opportunities for our most able pupils to stretch themselves.
"We are delighted with these results and hope these students will follow previous candidates, who have used their early AS results as a stepping stone to top universities, including a significant number who have gained places at Oxbridge”.
Now this is a celebration... I think they're happy! Students at Brighton and Hove High School.
Star of TV's The 7.39 and the film Never Let Me Go, Izzy Meikle-Small is celebrating gaining three A* grade A-levels at Brighton College.
The 18-year-old, who achieved her grades in English literature, government and politics and photography, said that getting her results was more nerve-racking than going to premieres of her movies.
The student at the independent school said: "I was so nervous, I didn't sleep at all last night but now I'm really happy.
"I get quite nervous at premieres and when auditioning although when I am on set I do not tend to be nervous but this is the most nervous I have ever been."

He said: "We've got them back now, they're back in the system and they're off to university. Although people will be interested in the headline grades of A* to B, they're the ones we're most pleased about."
