Emergency services responded to an early-morning fire in the downstairs toilet of a house.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.20am this morning (Thursday) to reports of a fire at a property in Market Street, Hailsham.

Crews from Hailsham, Herstmonceux and Eastbourne attended the scene.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reels to tackle the fire, which was in a downstairs toilet

Two people were led to safety. The fire was accidental.
