An MP’s bill to make personal development classes compulsory in state schools will have its second reading in Parliament in October.

Green MP Caroline Lucas wants classes to develop pupils’ life skills around issues like jobs, sexual health, and personal finance.

Actually sounds like the first sensible proposal from Caroline Lucas - especially, IMHO, personal finance.

However, I thought Martin Lewis (Money Saving Expert) had already been pushing for this and that Financial education will now form a part of the compulsory national curriculum in England from September 2014.

Do we know what she intends to cover with 'developing life skills', 'job issues' and 'sexual health issues'?
