Health minister Dan Poulter stopped off at the hospital where he used to work during a visit to Brighton.
Dr Poulter worked as a registrar at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in 2009, specialising in obstetrics, gynaecology and women's health.
He was joined by Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby yesterday as he took a quick look around the hospital.
The Royal Sussex will undergo a major £420 million redevelopment following approval from the Department of Health and Treasury earlier this year.
Dr Poulter also visited the Sussex Beacon, a Brighton-based charity which supports people living with HIV/Aids.
Mr Kirby said: “I was very pleased that Dan visited Brighton and was able to see all the excellent work that goes on here at the Royal Sussex and at the Sussex Beacon.”
