A CAR was driven at children on their scooters in a shopping car park, police say.

The passenger of the black Vauxhall Astra is said to have later got out and hit the children's father on the back of his neck with a glass bottle.

The car then drove away clipping the father and knocking him to the floor, said police.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Langney Shopping Centre car park, Eastbourne, on Monday August 25.

Police say the black Vauxhall Astra was being driven antisocially, including at children, at about 5pm, before leaving and returning about two hours later.

They added the children's father was assaulted after he approached the car.

PC Angie Parfitt said the driver of the car was described as a white man in his mid 20s, wearing a black jacket with a dark T-shirt underneath.

She said the passenger was also a white man, 5' 7", skinny and in his late teens with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark jeans.

PC Parfitt added: "The victim suffered a bruised shoulder but was shaken by the incident."
