MIDHURST Rother College students got caught up in the Tour of Britain as students and staff got on their bikes.
When teachers learned the tour would be passing nearby, the wheels were set in motion to support an event in the build up to the riders cycling round the outskirts of Midhurst on their way to Wisborough Green.
A cycle to college scheme, virtual Tour of Britain, spin classes and bike doctor sessions were all run at the school.
The brainchild of Heide Evans, leader of enrichment and the sports department team, the Tour of Britain programme for this week wide-ranging and planned to involve students from all years, from brand new Year 7s through to sixth formers.
She said: “The response from students and staff has been over-whelming.
“We already have many who have an interest in cycling whether leisure or long distance sporting, but it’s amazing how many more are taking part in the programme. It really has captured everyone’s imagination.”
