One of the world’s most famous trophies rolled into town to celebrate less than a year until the start of the Rugby World Cup.

The William Webb Ellis trophy took a trip around Brighton and Hove as the city prepares to host the international tournament which will see two pool matches played at the American Express Community Stadium.

As the countdown to the firs kick off continues, the city’s youngsters and rugby fans were able to get up close and personal with the trophy as it made its way around the city.

Councillor Geoffrey Bowden, Chair of Economic Development and Culture Committee, said: “We are very proud to welcome all those involved with Rugby World Cup 2015 to Brighton and Hove.

“The excitement is already building in the run up to the tournament and the matches taking place in September next year are set to be celebrated across the city.

“This is of huge value in terms of showcasing Brighton and Hove internationally and being part of such a strong sporting community.”

The Amex will host South Africa v Samoa on September 19 and Japan v USA a day later.
