A man has died and a lorry driver is in a critical condition after a crash.
Emergency services were called at 1.15pm to a two vehicle collision on the A21 at Battle just south of the junction with Marley Lane on Friday.
A silver Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling south when it collided head on with a Daf lorry travelling north.
The driver of the Vivaro, a 27-year-old man from Tonbridge in Kent, waspronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry, a 41-year-old man from Slough, was airlifted to Kings Collage hospital in London and remains there is a critical condition.
Officers from Sussex Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and the road was shut for 6 hours whilst investigation and recovery work was undertaken and motorists are thanked for their patience whilst it was being investigated.
Officers are keen to speak to any witnesses to the collision itself or the driving of either vehicle prior to the collision and would urge anyone with information to call them on 101 quoting Operation Standean or emailcollision.appeals@sussex.pnn.police.uk
