A MAN has been accused of slapping, kicking and spitting at his girlfriend at a bus stop – and police are appealing for witnesses.

Officers are trying to track down a passer-by who alerted them to the incident on Friday, September 26, in Hastings at around 1am.

Officers were flagged down and told of the incident in Cambridge Road, and then found the couple at a bus stop opposite wholesale store ESK.

The 24-year-old woman also accused the man of pushing her in the alleged assault.

PC Sally Waldron said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, and in particular from the person who flagged down the police car but who had left the area before officers were able to speak to them.

"If you can help please email us at 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting 98 of 26/9."

Jason Walsh, 24, unemployed, of Halton Crescent, Hastings, has been charged with common assault and has been released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on October 8.
