COLLEGE students met a war hero and heard about his experiences.
A group of 16 public services students from City College Brighton and Hove were given a personal tour of Blind Veterans UK in Ovingdean by 25-year-old Paul Jacobs.
As well as a tour of the centre, which provides free services and support to vision-impaired ex-service men and women, Mr Jacobs gave the students a candid talk about his experiences as a soldier, having joined the army at 17.
Serving as a member of 2nd Battalion The Rifles, Mr Jacobs was awarded the George Medal in March 2010 for “sheer courage and selflessness” in Afghanistan after being blinded when two home-made bombs exploded, killing two of his comrades.
