SEATS are still available at a public meeting on Monday night when police chiefs will be put under the spotlight .

Chief Constable Giles York, Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne and Brighton and Hove divisional commander Nev Kemp will be answering questions from the public at Hove Town Hall.

Protest policing, police resources, animal rights, sexual assaults, hate crimes and the role of the PCC are among the issues that readers have been sending in questions about so far. Plenty more are expected from the audience on the night.

The Argus group editor Michael Beard, who will be chairing the meeting, said: “The response so far has been extremely encouraging and shows that our readers and audience are engaged in the whole question of policing. This offers them a unique opportunity to question the people responsible for their policing about the issues that really matter to them.”

The event is the first in a series of Police and Crime Community Conversations Mrs Bourne will hold around Sussex over the next six months.

She said: “These events will set the context for policing in Sussex and, most importantly, provide an opportunity for residents to pose questions about topical issues directly to me, the Chief Constable and Divisional Commander.

“I’m particularly delighted that we are bringing this conversation to Hove Town Hall with the Argus and I’m sure it will prove to be a lively debate.”

Questions can be asked on any topic but organisers at tonight’s event hope to cover anti-social behaviour, burglary, domestic abuse, sexual offences, public satisfaction in the police, protests and travellers.

Any questions which are not answered on the night will be answered and published online, unless they contain personal information.

The Argus will also be blogging and streaming the event on our website, theargus.co.uk.

There is still time to email questions and to attend the event.
