A wrestling event will be looking to go out with a bang as it comes to a popular venue possibly for the last time.

Live professional wrestling will come to Hove Town Hall for the last time before refurbishment works will shut the building in December.

And after more than two decades of shows at the venue, the wrestlers have said it will be sorely missed.

Self-professed Cambridge-educated party animal “Party” Marty Scurll, who was a star on Sky’s TNA British Boot Camp, said: “I’ve done Hove three or four times now and there has always been a good fan base down here.

“The fans are very knowledgeable and they follow the storylines so it makes for a really good atmosphere.

“It makes our job easier and it’s always really well attended.

“The fans that turn up range all the way from old ladies to kids, but they have fun which means we can have fun and that’s what makes it special. It’s a fantastic venue and it will be missed, it’s a real shame. The wrestling scene in Sussex is great at the moment, so it really will be a shame to lose it as a venue.”

Champion The current British Heavyweight Champion will be seeking out a local tanning salon to get on the sunbed and finding somewhere to eat before the big night.

Another competitor, known as The Lion Kid, has missed the last two events at Hove through injury, but is thrilled to be heading back the Sussex.

He said: “When I know Hove is coming up, it’s always one I look forward to.

“They say half the stuff wrestlers do come from the energy they get from the crowd, and that’s certainly the case at Hove. I was really disappointed to see it go as a venue. Wrestling has been there for longer than I’ve been around so hopefully the refurbishments can be made quickly so we can get back in there in the future. We’ll absolutely be looking to go out with a bang.”

The event takes place on Sunday, October 26 at 5.30pm with doors opening at 5pm and tickets are available at http://www.amerchandise.co.uk/events/index.htm.
