CAMPAIGNERS taped up their mouths and arms and paraded through the city to highlight slavery and human trafficking.

Members of the A21 campaign group took to the streets of Brighton and Hove on Saturday.

They walked in silence, only stopping to hand out flyers and information to bemused shoppers.

Jess Congreve, from the group, said the event was about providing a voice for the voiceless.

She said: “We walked down to the seafront and then back round through town.

“I think people found it quite striking and we managed to hand out a lot of information which was good.”

Among those showing support along the route was Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion, who also taped up her mouth and arms.

Ms Congreve is also in the process of setting up her own campaign group to tackle trafficking and slavery in Brighton and Hove. Anyone wanting to get involved should email her at yadacharity@gmail.com.
