A SEAMAN hit his head while sailing during choppy weather and was rescued by lifeboat crews.
The Shoreham RNLI lifeboat was called to the aid of a man sailing six miles south of the station at 2.15pm on Saturday. 18/10
An RNLI spokesman said: “The 22-year-old crewman had injured his head on board the 72ft vessel, which was on passage from Plymouth to Hull, in the choppy seas.
“The lifeboat came alongside and the crew took the man off the sailing boat. Once on board the lifeboat, he was assessed and then taken back to the lifeboat station.
“An ambulance crew at the station treated him for a minor head injury and two of the crew took him to the railway station so he could travel home.”
