A CAR crashed into a lamp post plunging streets into darkness last night.
More than 100 homes lost power at 9.30pm 19/10 in Sompting, when a car crashed in Cokeham Lane, overturned and knocked down a lamp post and a fibre-optic cable cabinet before crashing into a wall in Tower Road.
The driver fled the scene before officers arrived to search the area – arresting two men.
A 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He was questioned before being released on bail until November 24.
A 32-year-old man, of Sompting, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. He is still in custody being questioned.
