TODAY the very best of the community The Argus serves will be honoured at a glamorous award ceremony.

The Argus Achievement Awards return for a 13th year, with a brand new name, logo and award categories to recognise the outstanding achievements of men, women, children and organisations across Sussex.

The ‘Community Stars Awards’ champion all those who deserve recognition for their selfless, brave or generous actions during the past year and provide an opportunity to honour the men, women and children who have touched all of our lives.

The Argus Community Stars Awards will be handed out later this afternoon at a lavish ceremony at Theatre Royal Brighton.

We will have live coverage of the event as the very best of Sussex is honoured.

Michael Beard, editor of The Argus, said: “The event is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the unsung heroes across the community which we serve.

“They too often go unnoticed and this is a great opportunity to thank them.

“I would encourage everyone to take a good look at the categories and to nominate those they think deserve the recognition.”

Categories include Community Star of the Year, Charity of the Year,  the Business in the Community Award, Carer of the Year and Employee of the year.
