Flooding has caused traffic problems on several roads across Sussex.

The A27 in Kingston near Lewes at the Ashcombe Roundabout (feeding the A277 Brighton Road) is affected.

Police reported that the A2021 Whitley Road in Eastbourne has flooding by the A259 Seaside road, from about 6.30am.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has put out a statement asking people to try calling their local council or the Environment Agency if flooding is not an emergency.

A spokeswoman said: "During extreme weather we prioritise calls where lives may be at risk, for example if homes are being flooded and electrics are affected."

Kelly Davis sent in this picture of flooding at the Deeside shops adjoining Mackie Avenue in Patcham, Brighton.

Just down the road, at the crossing of Ladies Mile Road and Winfield Avenue, water is wheel-deep, as shown in our video.

There are also police reports of cars spinning on the road, possibly due to surface water.

One span on the A27 near Poling, between Worthing and Arundel just before 6.30am.

The car was left facing the wrong way and stopped other traffic.

The female driver hit her head on the steering wheel and was treated by an ambulance crew.

Another span near Slindon on the A29.

The Argus:

On the trains, poor rail conditions are causing delays of up to 15 minutes to Southern services.

The disruptions are likely to continue until at least 11.30am.
