An explosion in a domestic garage was averted after firefighters were able to remove highly-flammable containers from a fire.

Three crews from Worthing and one from Lancing were called to a fire at a garage in Mill Lane, Worthing, at 8pm last night.

Crews removed two LPG gas cylinders from the blaze and managed to cool them down in an operation lasting two and a half hours.

No one was injured in the incident.
