A DRIVING instructor and his pupil picked up the baton as part of a nationwide charity learner driver relay.
Roy Garrod, from Uckfield, of Red Amber Green Driving School, headed a convoy of vehicles out of town in the national Big Learner Relay for Children in Need.
With Pudsey sat on the roof, student Kayla Wyllie, 19, took to the wheel and drove from Tunbridge Wells to Haywards Heath.
Mr Garrod said he was “delighted to be taking part”.
The driving instructors pass on the special relay sign from the top of the vehicle as they finish their leg.
The Big Learner Relay started in Northern Ireland on October 30 and is expected to reach the finish line at a BBC studio in Birmingham on Friday.
Louise Walsh, from the Big Learner Relay Committee, said: “Last November, whilst watching Children in Need, I thought, ‘why aren’t driving instructors doing something to raise money?’”
