First it was coffee and now Brighton and Hove residents have been revealed as the biggest chocolate obsessives in the country.

The city’s residents spend on average £672 a year on chocolate according to new research by online food retailers Yumbles.

The city’s residents spend almost £13 a week on average on chocolate and almost £100 a year more than chocoholics living anywhere else in the country.

The news comes after a separate study last month by the University of Stirling and Greggs which found that Brighton and Hove shoppers splashed out more than anybody else on coffee, spending £177 a year on the brown stuff.
