Raiders jumped out of two 4x4 vehicles and smashed windows of a supermarket with tools.

The attempted burglary at the Co-op supermarket in Sparrows Green Road, Wadhurst, took place at 1.20am on Thursday.

The store is currently close for refurbishment, but two men were seen jumping out of the vehicles before trying to gain entry.

They were disturbed by staff working inside the shop before speeding off and colliding with several parked cars towards the road's junction with Station Road.

The two cars are believed to be a Land Rover Defender and a Suzuki Jimny.
