A motorist who skipped court after being caught using his mobile at the wheel while drunk has been arrested.
Officers arrested Tarik Girgin at an address in London Road, Bexhill, shortly after 1pm yesterday following a tip-off from a member of the public.
A warrant was issused for his arrest after he was convicted in his absence of drink driving, driving without a licence, using a mobile phone at the wheel and driving without a valid MOT.
Girgin is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court this morning (Friday) to be sentenced.
Girgin, 30, was seen was caught with his mobile phone to his ear as he drove his Mercedes Sprinter van on the A259 Bexhill Road heading away from Hastings and towards Bexhill in June.
When he was breathalysed he was found to be more than three times over the legal drink drive limit.
Girgin, of Durham Hill, Bromley, Kent, failed to turn up to Hastings Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after he was charged.
