A mental health centre has opened.
The “hub” in Frederick Place, Brighton, will offer a range of services to help improve the lives of those suffering with mental health problems.
Assistance from the Brighton and Hove Recovery College, peer support services and one-to-one employment support will be offered.
The service is part of Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group’s plans to develop care in the city and is provided by not-for-profit organisation Southdown.
Martin Dominy, Southdown head of mental health recovery services, said: “Neglect, abuse, poverty, work stress, relationship difficulties and lack of timely access to good services all contribute to poor mental health.
“Our mental health recovery services aim to maximise hope, independence and resilience so that people can manage their mental health and live their life to the full.”
Since the organisation was appointed to take on the project in April last year, it has increased the number of people regularly accessing services from 200 to 600.
