A school's science lab was trashed in one of two break-ins. Blatchington Mill School in Nevill Close, Hove, is being guarded following the break-ins last week.

In an email to parents, headteacher Janet Felkin said “considerable damage” had been done to one of the science labs and security guards were patrolling the perimeter of the school.

Nothing is believed to have been taken.

Yesterday, one student told The Argus: “There are now security guards at all the entrances to the school, which was a bit of a surprise. It didn’t affect my classes but some have had to be changed. Everyone was talking about it at school today because the first we heard about it was yesterday.”

The break-ins occurred overnight between Wednesday, November 19, and Thursday, November 20, and again the following night.

A Sussex Police spokesman said entry was forced on both nights, with items thrown around on the first night and smashed on the second.
