A MOTORCYCLIST had broken ribs after he swerved to avoid a van and then crashed into another.

The 53-year-old Storrington man was taken to hospital yesterday 28/11 after the accident. He tried to avoid the white Ford Transit van, which continued unaware, and then crashed into a blue Citroen van on his Triumph Speed Triple.

The Citroen driver, a 46-year-old Gosport man, was unhurt, in the accident at 7.40am near the A259 Cathedral Way and A27 Chichester By-Pass junction.

The man was taken to St Richard’s Hospital, in Chichester, and was believed to be seriously ill and but was later discharged with broken ribs.

Emergency services were on the scene for an hour and the A259 was partially closed causing traffic delays.
